FYI: Bullet Voting Explained
Every year, three seats on the nine-member Stamford Board of Education are up for election. Registered voters may cast votes for up to three of the candidates on the ballot. Usually, there are more candidates than open seats. The three candidates receiving the most votes are elected to the Board. If there is a single candidate that a voter particularly hopes to see elected, it is beneficial to cast only a single vote for that candidate. By not casting all three votes (two of which would go to competing candidates), the voter has increased the likelihood that his/her favored candidate will be elected.
Bottom line: if you're a big supporter, vote for one candidate - hopefully me!
