Personal Investment in the Stamford Community
31 Years, Three Kids, One Place We Call Home
My wife, Amy, and I have lived in Stamford sine 1984 (aside from a brief two year stint in Norwalk in the late 80's). For the over 30 years we have been in this community we have watched our children grow, made irreplaceable friendships and truly made a life here. I sang on the Curtain Call stage, held premium little league seats in the Springdale bleachers, sailed on The Sound and waded in the Italian Center kiddie pool. The Stamford Museum and Nature Center, Cove Island and Mianus Parks - just a few favorite spots for family walks (with our beagle, Penny, in tow of course).
All three of my kids attended Stamford Public Schools grades K-12 and each were profoundly impacted by various teachers, mentors and coaches along the way. I want to empower those leaders at our schools, face the districts' challenges head on and make quality education a reality for all students in Stamford.

Serving Stamford's Youth
Experience in the Stamford Public School System and Youth Programs
I once joked that I would write a book titled Like Son, Like Father, detailing how my children's interests and activities became my own interests and activities. From the soccer fields to the theater stage, I've gone somewhere beyond supportive parent, but (hopefully) not quite full-blown Dadzilla, regarding my involvement. I'm grateful that these pursuits brought me closer to my own children, but also closer to the Stamford community and its youth as well.
Over time I became more passionate about the quality of education our kids receive, investing a great deal of time working with Stamford schools on various councils and task forces. Even as my own children have exited the system, I've continued to delve into the Stamford Public School arena with my candidacy for Board of Education last fall ('14) and further service to the aforementioned school committees. Here is a summary of some things I've been up to:

Education and Professional Experience
Trust me, I'm accountable.
I've had experience in accounting and finance since my college years which I have summarized below. Although the checks and balances didn't stop with my professional career - I put my auditing skills to work even as a stay at home dad, much to my kids' dismay (yes, I did see those 6 candy wrappers in the trash and no, you cannot have another).
I intend to use my background in accounting and finance to bring some fiscal savviness to the Board of Education. I want to improve reporting and reduce excessive spending to make our tax dollars work harder.
